Tibet Guge 06 Tsaparang White Temple 03 01 Mahakala  [7 of 45]

Below Hayagriva’s outstretched right arm is a beautiful painting of blue Mahakala, a wrathful Tantric deity and manifestation of Avalokiteshvara (Tib. Chenrezig). He is blue with fanged teeth and a tiara of skulls, wears richly decorated robes, holds a staff in his right hand and a skull cup brimming with blood in his left.
